Li Xiang obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Law from Dalian Maritime University in 2020, graduating in the top 10% of her class. She was awarded the National Scholarship and the University-Level Outstanding Student Award for her academic excellence.
She obtained a Master’s degree in Maritime Law from NUS in 2022.
Li Xiang started her legal career as an Associate at a renowned shipping law firm in Qingdao, where she handled a broad range of international trade and shipping-related disputes, including charterparty disputes, bulk/container cargo damage, cargo shortages, delivery without the presentation of a bill of lading, ship collisions, port operation disputes, and aquaculture damage claims. She played a pivotal role in reviewing case materials, providing preliminary legal opinions, and drafting Demand Letters, Statements of Claim, Defences, cross-examination opinions, and submissions. In her role as an Associate, she attended arbitration and court hearings, advised clients on litigation strategies and settlement negotiations, and ensured that clients’ interests were effectively protected.
In Singapore, Li Xiang has been actively involved in a variety of commercial disputes, including shareholders, charterparty and international trade disputes as well as vessel arrests. She conducts legal research, drafts legal documents, organizes evidence, and prepares legal memoranda. She has also played an instrumental role in contract review, risk assessment, and compliance advisory work, ensuring that Chinese clients operate within the prescribed legal frameworks. Additionally, she serves as a key liaison for Chinese clients, facilitating efficient communication of legal opinions and case progress.
Li Xiang is formally qualified to practice law in China. She ensures seamless interaction between Chinese clients and legal teams in litigation and arbitration cases, providing strategic insights and ensuring that clients are well-informed throughout the entire process.
